Abstract

Penjagaan kulit muka memainkan peranan penting dalam kedua-dua dandanan peribadi dan amalan kecantikan profesional. Walaupun pelajar kolej komuniti mengikuti program yang berkait rapat dengan kesihatan kulit, penting bagi mereka untuk memahami penjagaan kulit dan menerapkan penjagaan rutin yang betul. Objektif kajian adalah untuk menilai tahap pengetahuan, sikap dan amalan pelajar program Terapi Kecantikan di Kolej Komuniti Sungai Petani terhadap penjagaan kulit muka. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan reka bentuk tinjauan. Soal selidik berstruktur yang merangkumi 11 item pengetahuan, 8 item sikap dan 13 item amalan telah diedarkan kepada 115 orang pelajar perempuan yang mengikuti program ini. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik frekuensi dan deskriptif. Dapatan menunjukkan bahawa tahap pengetahuan pelajar terhadap penjagaan kulit adalah tinggi, dengan lebih 90% responden bersetuju bahawa produk penjagaan kulit membantu melembap, membersih dan mengurangkan masalah kulit seperti jerawat dan parut. Sikap pelajar juga sangat positif, dengan majoriti menyatakan bahawa mereka mengambil berat tentang penjagaan kulit dan memilih produk berdasarkan jenis kulit. Dari segi amalan, hampir kesemua pelajar menggunakan pencuci muka, pelembap dan pelindung matahari dalam rutin harian, walaupun penggunaan produk khusus seperti krim malam dan krim anti-penuaan adalah lebih rendah. Secara keseluruhan, pelajar menunjukkan tahap KAP yang tinggi terhadap penjagaan kulit muka. Kajian ini mencadangkan bahawa intervensi pendidikan harus terus menyokong pembangunan pemahaman saintifik dan rutin penjagaan kulit yang berstruktur dalam kalangan pelajar, selaras dengan keperluan industri kecantikan.

Facial skincare plays an important role in both personal grooming and professional beauty practices. Although community college students are enrolled in programmes closely related to skin health, it is crucial for them to understand skincare and apply proper daily skincare routines. The objective of this study was to assess the levels of knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) regarding facial skincare among Beauty Therapy students at Kolej Komuniti Sungai Petani. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey design. A structured questionnaire consisting of 11 knowledge items, 8 attitude items, and 13 practice items was distributed to 115 female students enrolled in the programme. Data were analysed using frequency and descriptive statistics. The findings revealed that students’ level of knowledge about skincare was high, with more than 90% of respondents agreeing that skincare products help to moisturise, cleanse, and reduce skin problems such as acne and scars. Students also demonstrated very positive attitudes, with the majority indicating that they care about skincare and choose products based on their skin type. In terms of practice, almost all students used facial cleansers, moisturisers, and sunscreens as part of their daily routine, although the use of specific products such as night creams and anti-ageing creams was lower. Overall, students exhibited a high level of KAP regarding facial skincare. The study suggests that educational interventions should continue to support the development of scientific understanding and structured skincare routines among students, in line with the needs of the beauty industry.
